About Toronto

Toronto is the perfect place to study English and have the experience of a lifetime.

Aside from its cultural diversity, our city has a rich selection of cultural, artistic, and entertainment attractions. Whether you like dining, sports, theatre, shopping, museums, or clubbing, Toronto has it all!

After you arrive in the city, there are some things that you can not possibly miss during your first few weeks:

The Royal Ontario Museum is the largest museum in Canada. With thousands of artifacts from different time periods and different cultures, it is bound to give you a lot to think about!

The CN Tower will show you the city splendor from the top. This is the tallest man-made structure in the world, reaching a height of over 1,800 feet or over 500 meters! It took approximately 40 months to build it by over 1500 workers.

Casa Loma is Toronto's own castle. Built by Sir Henry Pellat during the early 1900s, he left a legacy that can now be enjoyed by visitors from all over the world. Visit the gardens during late spring or summer and discover flora that you never even knew we had in Canada. Also, check out the view from the top of the two towers.

The Art Gallery of Ontario is the best known gallery in the city and also the largest. Here you will find hundreds of Canadian art works as well as art from around the world. Be sure to visit the gift shop, you will find many one of a kind pieces that are sure to please!

The Old City Hall has an interesting story. The current building was not the original City Hall; the previous building was destroyed in a fire in 1849. This building was built by a man called E.J. Lennox and in its design you can find several grotesques that represent the politicians who argued over the construction of this structure.

The Toronto Kensington Market is famous all over the world for its never ending activity. Located between College St. and Dundas St., just west of Spadina Rd., you can find a number of second hand shops as well as fresh food markets.

The Little Italy area of the city is located on College Street and you will find many nice restaurants and great night clubs. The Italian families that moved out of Little Italy were replaced by Portuguese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish families. This mix of cultures gives Little Italy the international flavour that it enjoys today.
